Improvise Skating Magazine
This is one of my favorite things I have ever designed! In publication design we had to come up with a magazine and get it printed once finished. This was my first time working with InDesign so I was super excited to learn something new. We were required to have a charity event, for this spread I did “Helping Skaters Without Boards” where I took free images of skateboarders and photoshopped their board out from under them. A really silly concept but I learned new tools in photoshop and had a lot of fun. The second was an event page where I designed a layout for the “Try Cities Skate Jam”. The challenge here was only using one color and the gray scale, all while maintaining a balanced composition which I am super happy with. The last spread had to be a how-to page and to keep in the skateboard theme I did a how-to photograph skateboarding. I grew up skateboarding and before social media and smart phones I would go to a mall and get the new Thrasher Magazine where what I looked forward to most were the pages where I could tear out and hang on my wall, so I took that approach and childhood me would be stoked! Overall I learned a lot with this project and had so much fun while doing it!
